​The deflection mirror is created from polished stainless steel, welded into an airtight envelope then inflated with compressed air. The crumpled surface is the result of inflating and deflating the piece multiple times, combined with folding and manipulating the metal by hand to form peaks and valleys in the material.

The finished piece deflects its surroundings, its appearance transformed with every shift in ambient lighting or viewing angle, creating much greater visual interest than a conventional flat mirror.
